Community Feature: Family Friendly Festivals!

Wisconsinites know that a good festival makes for great family fun! Everyone loves Summerfest and the State Fair, so we have compiled another five wonderful festivals to put on your summer to-do list!shutterstock_563414185 German Fest – Milwaukee. Get ready to celebrate your German heritage! Or just come on down for the fun July 29-31! There is a multitude of activities to get involved in from a Dachshund Derby, arts-and-crafts, create-your-own t-shirt, Sheepshead, parades and more! Don’t forget about the authentic German music and food! Who could resist a local combo of brats and beer?

Strawberry Festival – Cedarburg. From June 25-26 everything comes up strawberries! A berry-fun time awaits the whole family from live music, unique shopping and the extraordinary Annual Plein Air Painting Event. This free, family-oriented festival, now in its 31st year, hosts such Kodak moments as the strawberry shortcake-eating contest and the strawberry bubble-gum blowing contest! This is one festival sure to create memories for the whole family.

World’s Largest Brat Fest – Madison. Nothing says Wisconsin like the smell and sizzle of brats on a grill! From May 27-30 enjoy four days of non-stop food and fun at this popular extravaganza over Memorial Day weekend. It is a huge music festival along with a kid’s zone that has plenty of activities to keep the young ones busy. You could also enjoy the Hot Dog Jog or Saturday BratteyBall which is Brat Fest’s version of a volleyball tournament!

Walleye Weekend – Fond du Lac. This June 10-12 make sure you head to Lakeside Park to enjoy a free family-friendly weekend! Offering a variety of unique activites including Familyland childrens entertainment and a separate Teen Village filled with a 30-foot climbing wall and more! There is also an extensive showcase of musical performances throughout the weekend for everyone’s enjoyment.

EAA Air Venture – Oshkosh. This celebration of flight from July 25-31 offers something for every generation in your family. Look to the skies for exciting daily air shows, including aerial acrobatics by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. It is the world’s largest gathering for recreational pilots and aviation enthusiasts, featuring more than 10,000 airplanes, 750,000 people, 500 forums/seminars and 700 product exhibitors!
